Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

Rotork has been working with BAE Systems to improve a series of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which function penstocks controlling motion of ships between the ocean and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A sequence of A-range actuators had reached the top of their operational life after long service in a challenging setting. BAE Systems wished to retain all the benefits of electric actuators, so IQ3 actuators had been chosen. These needed to be specially tailored by Rotork to overcome problems round confined spaces and difficult access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes were mechanically tailored in order that each actuator and gearbox could probably be operated by hand with out coming into the confined area. Rotork designed particular hand auto levers and through drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to remove the necessity for confined area entry.
Actuators within the IQ range are watertight, providing ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. เกจ์อาร์กอนsumo have a complicated twin stacked display with configurable information logger functionality, and an absolute place sensor offers reliability and accuracy.
